Water is essential for life on Earth. Sadly, lack of access to clean water is an existential threat to many communities around the globe, including Lobitos and Piedritas, two small towns on the northwest coast of Perú. The inability of community members to access water has a significantly negative impact on daily life. Our solution to the problem of lack of access to clean water targets the most important economic contributors in the region – the hotels. By aiding hotels, this solution will revive the tourism industry, stimulating the economy and community as a means to improve the quality of life of all residents in the region. Our solution makes use of the abundance of untapped groundwater available in the underground rivers and streams in the region and provides a way to purify that water for human use and consumption. In addition to simply purifying the water, our solution contains a user feedback system that serves to prevent difficulties that may arise after implementation as a form of preventative maintenance. Our feedback system is inexpensive, easily serviceable, and provides tailored information designed to aid in the preventative maintenance process. The feedback system utilizes an Arduino, an ultrasonic distance sensor, and LED lights, all of which can all be easily acquired. The needs of the residents and business owners in Lobitos and Piedritas were considered paramount to all else in this design process, and it is their water consumption needs that our solution will help satisfy in hopes of creating a more comfortable and accommodating lifestyle for all.

Great job!
